Prologue-I Remember

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I remember what it was like to see a miraculous, beautiful, sunny day. I remember what it was like to see the smiles of my loved ones.

I remember playing the piano and watching my fingers glide across the keys.

I remember gazing at the sky as birds flew. I remember watching movies with my family.

I remember staring at bugs, walking along the ground.

I remember seeing spectacular light shows. I remember gazing at snowflakes as they fell from the clouds.

I remember staring at mountains in awe as they towered above me.

I remember when I could gaze at the ocean.

I remember the way I looked, me.

I remember... when I could see...

----

"Leeua," I heard my name. My head spun around frantically. A gentle, rough hand touched me on the shoulder. I felt his fingers. They felt hard, like they were in a metal glove. I could tell he was kind, sweet, and caring though. He wouldn't harm me.

"... Yes?" I answered hesitantly. I was scared, and I didn't know who this was or even where I was. His hand moved towards my cheek and he stroked it, soothingly.

"It is time to go, young one," He stated. "You have much to learn." He helped me up off of the ground. I had been sitting on a leather-type seat the entire time. I was not familiar with my surroudings, so I had to feel my way around. I remember that an odd thing happened yesterday afternoon...

----

A knock at the door echoed through my household. 'Who could that be?' I thought to myself. I knew my house well, so I could get to our door easily without any difficulty. I opened it, and I heard an unfamiliar voice.

"Well... ," He hesitated. I know why. He was a little dissheveled by my eyes. My brother told me they always looked freaky. Though, even before my current state, he always told me they were freaky already. My mother, however always told me that my eyes were a gorgeuos light green hugh. I felt uneasy as he haulted in speech nonetheless.

"Would you like for me to get my mother?" I asked unsure of what to do in such a state. I could tell he grinned. Especially by the kind voice he replied with.

"That would be great," He stated. I smiled as I called my mother. I happened to gain her attention, and she came streight to the door. She welcomed our guest with her same, old, usual, nice voice.

"Hey, there!" She greeted. "Come on in!" Footsteps made their way into our house. Though, I could tell it was more than one person... Two, perhaps?

"Thank you, miss," He replied. "Is this your daughter?" He asked, I smiled.

"Yes, it is," She answered sweetly. "Nice to meet you both. Umm, miss, may I speak to you in private?" My mother gave a 'yes' in response. "By the way, this is my companion, Anakin." He said. "Anakin, why don't you get to know the girl."

"Yes, Master," He replied. He extended his arm to shake my hand, but I obviously did nothing. I held onto our stair's banister as my eyes wandered. "Uhh, aren't you going to shake my hand?"

"Oh, I'm sorry!" I exclaimed. "I didn't know you were doing that." I did as he also had done, and shook his hand. I could tell he was quite tall as his voice seemed to come down at me. My mother did always say I was rather small, and short though, so I'm not sure.

"It's fine," He stated in answer. "So, what's your name?" "Leeua," I replied gazing downward. "My friends call me Lee, though."

"Nice to meet you, Leeua or Lee," He said. I smiled. "As my ally said, my name is Anakin." I grinned again replying, "Likewise, Anakin."

There was a blunt silence, but I broke it. I felt a bit awkward. "Would you like any refreshments or food, Anakin?" I asked him, though I got no response. "Would you like any food or refreshments?" I asked even louder.

"I shook my head," He stated. I could tell he was growing irritated with me. Obviously, he didn't know my situation. "I'm really sorry, Anakin," I said in an ashamed tone. "I didn't know."

"Alright... ," I could tell his eyes were gazing at me. He proably noticed my eyes, the color of them, and the way they reacted. "Are you ok?" He asked concerned.

"I'm fine," I said as a very small smile escaped my lips. "You probably didn't even notice my disability, did you?" "No," He replied. I could tell he was baffled.

"The reason I didn't see your hand to shake, the reason I didn't see you shake your head... I'm blind, Anakin," I stated. I didn't let it get me down, however. I was just like him, though I lacked a sense. He was stunned, I could tell. The urgency in his voice made me laugh.

"Leeua, I'm so sorry!" He exclaimed. "I-I didn't k-know!" "It's fine, it's fine!" I laughed. "I get that a lot. I should have told you right from the start, so I'm sorry."

He grabbed my hand. "No, no, no," He said ongoingly. "I should not have been so rude!" "Blindness isn't a disability, you know." I replied, closing my eyes as the pressure ceased from the staining. "I gained another sense, for the record."

"How so?" He asked curiously, letting go of my hand. I grinned, "Well, my hearing is ten times that of the normal person. For example, I can hear the conversation your master and my mother are having at this very moment."

"Really?" Anakin was brought back. "That's something... You could probably use that to your advantage, eh?" I felt him nudge me on the shoulder, jokingly. I laughed. "It can be quite handy on occasions!"

"Well... What are they saying?" He asked. I couldn't tell what they had been conversating about the whole time, on account of Anakin and I's talk, but I did get bits and pieces. Though, before I could answer my new acquaintance, the conversation between the two came to a hault.

"They stopped talking... ," I stated. I felt my expression grow concerned. All was silent. "... They'er coming our way."

My mother pulled me into a hug once she got to me. I had to stand on my toes to reach her because of my short stature, though I could feel tears slide off of her face. Faint cries echoed inside of her heart.

"Leeua... I love you, and please... ," she continued, "Always remember that." I couldn't comprehend. "Mom, I love you too, but what's going on?" I felt her cold, worried hands placed upon my face as she kissed my forehead. She did not answer.

"Master Obi Wan?" I heard a voice I had never even heard before echo into my house. "We are going to have to take off soon. The ship can't take much more of the creatures that inhabit here. They keep gnawing at sensitive areas of the engine. My men can't kill them all."

"Right then," this 'Obi Wan' announced. "Come along, Leeua. Commander Cody, escort Leeua here to her seat in the ship." I heard the commander give a respectful 'yes sir.'

Strong hands took me by the shoulders, gently though. He could tell I was tensed. "Wait, what's going on?" I asked in wonderment. I could hear my mother let out soft cries as her voice cracked. "Mom! Where are they taking me!?"

I struggled to break free of the man's grip.I tried to run to my mother for comfort, but I heard the door of my house slam shut. I was stunned. 'How could my mother do this to me!?' I thought.

"It's alright," I heard the commander's voice soothe. "You'er going to be ok." I stopped attempting to break away, so I let him lead me to the 'ship.'

---

"Leeua," I heard Anakin's voice. I was relived to the fullest as I was led out of the ship. "Anakin!" I shouted his name with happiness. I felt his outstretched arm as I held it in my hands. "Anakin, what's happening? I'm so confused."

"Don't worry," He reassured me. "We'er going to help you." "What do I need help with? What's wrong with me?" I was frantic. ...I was frightened.

"Nothing," He replied, holding my hand. "You'll see what I mean in a moment."

He led me inside what I presumed to be a large building. I was at ease knowing my friend was here to keep me free from harm's way, but I still felt unsure...

Author's Comments

Hi all! Sooo this is a fic I have been wanting write, and I FINALLY got it. Whoo, ok so it's a story based on Star Wars, obviously.

I thought that it would make it a little more unique if the main character, Leeua, was slightly lacking a sense. Though, that MOST DEFINITELY does not mean she's different from everybody else. She's normal, and that's what I'm trying to highlight.

I have a close friend who's blind, and he's the coolest person I've ever met. He's extrememly intelligent, and is very skillful in all he does.

In conclusion, I just hope everyone likes my story. I'll be updating soon! Enjoy! Oh, and this story is also on [link] so here's the link to it there:
